How it’s made
An ale for Caledonia - Using the best that Caledonia has to offer.
Crafted in our famous Wellpark brewery where we have a rich, 450-year long, tradition of brewing award-winning ales, we’re now combining 100% Scottish malted barley and Highland water from Loch Katrine with the skills of our finest Scottish team of Master Brewers, to make an ale just for Scotland.
From Grain to glass
Ingredients are fundamental to the flavour of beer, and with Caledonia Best we are committed to ensuring that our most important ingredient, barley, will come only from Scottish farmers.
In working with a maltster and farmers that we trust, we ensure the best possible quality of all our
We only use 100% Scottish grain that can be traced back to the individual farmers who grew it for us. Every grain of barley has been planted, grown and harvested under Scottish skies.
We’ve selected only the best hops to fuse with the rest of our superb ingredients.
Natural Scottish water
Our water comes fresh from Loch Katrine in the Scottish Highlands.
Our two Master Brewers care for every drop of their new ale at every stage of its production; from de-oxygenating the liquor, triple filtering, adding hops later, and fermenting longer.
What happened when our oldest master brewer met our youngest one?
Born from our oldest master brewer’s rich knowledge of traditional ale recipes, Caledonia Best is brewed with Scottish water, the finest malted Scottish barley, hops and yeast that he himself sources. Combined with the fresh thinking of our youngest master brewer who uses state of the art brewing and filtration techniques to finely blend 10 different malts and get the best out of the grain to create a consistently bright, smooth and perfectly balanced pint.
